Easter Basket Prep. 🐰 Way back when I was prepping for my son’s first Easter, I thought about what traditions I wanted to start. As I walked the aisles of plastic baskets, plastic grass and plastic toys, I knew one tradition I would have- a reusable Easter Basket. 🐰 The basket was a gift from my best friend at her wedding. My son was one month old at the time. She became his Godmother. Every year the basket comes out a week before Easter. 🧺 When my son was little, I would design the basket with paper grass, paper dragonfly’s and paper flowers. Then after Easter the basket would go back in a bin to wait another year. . . You might think, oh another bin in the basement/garage/attic. What I see is another bin of stuff not going into landfill. Another year of reusing and the memories made. . We are into the 8th year of doing this. I started with 6 dragonfly’s, we are down to two. I started with blue and yellow paper grass. We have added light blue, pink and light yellow grass. 🧺 My son now designs his own basket. He has asked for some new things for his Easter Basket design. I said next year we will add new things. Let’s think about what should be added. He agreed. . We do the same thing for our Easter Egg Hunt. Awhile back I purchased @eco.eggs Which are made from 💯 recycled material. We leave a bag out for the Easter Bunny with the basket on Easter Eve. The bunny magically fills the eggs and hides them in the night. Again these eggs will go in the Easter Bin after the weekend is over to wait another year. We have been doing this for over four years. . We love Celebrating the holidays. We also love this earth. It is Pinewood Derby Day for my Cub Scout Pack. And here is my SPAM derby car. . Den Leader Mike made a BUTTER derby car. Today it will be SPAM vs. BUTTER. Let’s see who wins. . I made the car but cut the labels off a @spambrand can. With such unique lettering, I knew I didn’t have a sturdy enough hand to recreate it. We visited the Spam museum @spammuseum last summer. It was really cool to learn about the work the company did during war time. My son even fell in love with SPAM that is sold in different countries. . Of course, Cub Scout Derby Day is about the kids. Let’s be real, Den Leaders are just grown up Kids. Don’t worry my son made his derby car as well. I just wanted to show off my derby car because I am so darn proud of it.
